What Orifice…
…do our leaders, FEMA and natural disaster managers have their heads up in? I am seeing more and more coverage of the devastation Hurricane Katrina wrought…which no one was at fault for. Even worse though, like we all are, I am witnessing the pathethic lack of appropriate response to the victims, many of whom have been without food or water for four or five days now. ("the bastards!" my inner Militant Humanist mutters "the bloody bastards!" Time for EFT…tap-tap-tap-tap-tap…..)
Why is more attention not paid to the suffering of Hurricane Katrina victims? When America is known for whizzing to the rescue of every third world country similiarly jeopardized, why IN OUR OWN COUNTRY is this help so VERY SLOW in coming? Speaker after speaker in the media have labelled the national disaster organizations response as "disgraceful", "shamefully slow" and even, "murderous".
Why? Patients in hospitals are dying from heat, babies from lack of milk, diabetics from lack of insulin. Doctors cannot perform life saving surgeries due to lack of clean water so patients are dying, in droves. And shockingly, instead of being available to help people get out of the ruined cities, a large sector of police are fighting dangerous battles with an increasing criminal element in New Orleans and elsewhere. Who frighteningly, like scenes from apocalyptic science fiction novels, are taking over the city’s dark and abandoned buildings, and control of large sectors of the city.
Newscasters are speaking in terms of what they witness looking exactly like natural tragedies they have covered in third world countries. An NBC news reporter said after covering the tragedy today, that he was anxious to get back home to the States…only to realize with shock, that he had never left.
This is not the America I grew up in. I may be dating myself, but when I was a kid, people gave a damn about their neighbors, even if those neighbors were thousands of miles away. And when things like this happened, people dug deep and gave, contributed personally or volunteered their time and effort to help out.
Even more shocking than our leaders seeming indifference, is that of the person on the street. I’ve heard in grocery stores, online and in various places I have been in the last few days how "jaded" people are with giving to disaster causes. An example: "I gave to that earthquake in Bam, Iran, and that was it. I’m done." said a man in line for the teller at my bank. I couldn’t believe it. For crying out loud folks, this is OUR country! You can donate to causes in other countries but not here, at home? That is just SO not cool.
It’s not that I don’t get it. I get tired of the same-old-same-old just like anyone else. I’m a little jaded with the seeming non-stop bad news in the world myself, but life is change and whirling chaos (scientists have actually proved that every ordered system naturally devolves back to chaos). Get used to it. Messed in the head about it? Then learn EFT (click here), TAT (click here), or just about any other energy therapy and get past it. But don’t just turn away. Don’t ignore those that "there but for the grace of God" - could well be you.

So click the icon above and donate via PayPal, or any other reputable disaster charity. That’s what I did. I’m lazy and didn’t want to type in my whole credit card number, and already have a PayPal account. PayPal donates to the United Way which helps out in such situations. There are a ton of other agencies though - take your pick. Your local news station will have a donation fund as well.
By the way, I don’t get a flat dime for putting this icon up there, it’s not an affiliate link or anything, and goes straight to PayPal. But speaking of affiliate links, I am donating every penny I get for the next month from affiliate links to Hurricane Katrina victim relief. Thinking of babies dying with no milk to feed them drives me crazy. So does seeing people dying for lack of water in America, the richest nation in the world. It’s disgraceful. And this is what I can do. What can you do?
So, if you’re interested in getting a good deal on the following services and want to make sure the donations go to a good cause, click these puppies and I personally guarantee every cent of affiliate dough I make will go to the relief effort:

AudioAcrobat - Stone Cold Best In Show of the Web Audio Crowd You need to have audio on your site but it’s time consuming, laborious to edit and you’re sick and tired of having to do it all yourself? Could you use a few extra tools to get that podcast radio show started? Maybe a customer testimonial line? You need AudioAcrobat. It rocks solid and is my choice for Awesome Tool of The Moment. Check the audios in my posts below - recorded ‘em myself, zipless as you please, and had ‘em up in minutes. If you could use the coolest tool in town for stuff like this, then donate a few bucks to feed and water the thousands of homeless down south, by clicking here
And gosh, there are more, but I’m dead tired and going to bed early. Whatever is your metier, chip in what you can to those who are so much less fortunate than you are right now. Drain a pint of blood for the cause, hold a bake sale.
But don’t just sit there. Remember Rev. Niemoller’s quote: "When they came for the Jews, the intellectuals, the political dissidents…I did not speak up…and when they came for me…there was no one left to speak up."
Speak up, America. Let our leaders and more importantly, our fellow countrymen and women down south hear your voices.
Unite!
