Creating an OUTRAGEOUSLY Compelling Outcome
Why do we not get
what we want? Because we often have no idea WHY
we want it, WHAT will change when we have it, WHO
might be affected by our changing (and what wrenches this might throw into the works) and WHEN we will
really be ready to make that change. These are the key factors
propelling us through the process of getting the thing we
desire.
If your personal goals achievement, or energy patterning sessions using EFT,
TAT, BSFF or other method are not giving you the
outcome you desire, learn and apply the "Create An OUTRAGEOUSLY Compelling Outcome" model to ensure success. Apply this model to
those "I wanna" agenda items, turning them into
ironclad "I will absolutely accomplish this objective" - a personal dictum you find yourself following effortlessly and with unwavering intensity.
It’s a simple process, but can easily go awry without following all the steps. Especially important to watch is your Timelining (below) as this is where most people go completely off the rails in succeeding at goals. It’s relatively simple though. Here’s how:
1. Decide ABSOLUTELY
what
you want - Red or blue? Long or short? Full-time or half-
time? $50K a year or a cool million? Be as specific as
possible, describing what you want using all the ways
you represent success to yourself: visually,
kinesthetically, auditorially.
2. What else will change when you create this new
situation/object/relationship/thing for yourself? - Think
environment, relationships, time effects, energy flows,
etc.
3. Will anyone else be affected? - Start with your most
intimate relationships. Significant others, family,
children, friends and go out to your larger community.
Many people see this as a negative type of effect and
go looking for who is going to be upset at them for
changing. While this is certainly a reaction to consider,
also consider the positive effects your change will
have. For every action there is an equal and opposite
reaction. For every negative, a positive. What is
the "equal" other side of your particular ripple-out
effect?
4. What resources do you already have that will help
you achieve this outcome? Think in terms of having
time, equipment, money, education/training, personal or
financial support?
5. And ask yourself again, once you’ve answered #4 -
do you need any OTHER resources to achieve your
desired outcome?
6. Is achieving this desired outcome within your ability
and control? - Be realistic. "Some day when I have
more —." (money, training, time etc.) is a good
answer but it means you can’t do the thing now. Right
now, today, or within a reasonable space of time - can
you do it with what you already have on board? If you
need more resources, pause to add them before going
on.
7. Now check the ecology (ecology = "okay-ness") of
the situation again in a slightly different way, asking -
"Will anyone object?" Remember: it is not always
necessary to have full
compliance of all people in your sphere to make a
needed change. Sometimes others will just have to
cope with a new you, while desperately wanting the old
you back. This is a normal human response. While
seriously allowing for your near ‘n dears to give you a
reasonable reality check, don’t let their needs pull you
back into outmoded ways of behaving/being. Whether
others make their perception and acceptance of
the "new you" easy on themselves or not is entirely
their own choice.
Timelining Your Goal for Completely Successful
Achievement
Timelining
is Step Eight of the above process, but deserves its own section as it
is an art by itself. It is the last keystone of success in achieving
tough goals, time after time. It’s also the one thing people forget or
think is unimportant to close their process by. But without giving your
Outcome or Goal a deadline, you could be dead in the water. Here’s how
you do it:
After completing the above six steps, ask yourself -
"What is the first step toward achieving this goal or
outcome NOW?" If that means to pick up the phone
book and hire someone to clean your house while you
acquire new training that will let you accomplish your
goal, then that’s your first step. Think out a few steps
into next week. What comes next in the process? And
next? Get down three to five things to do in the next
week. Then go to the very end, when you can see
yourself having accomplished the desired outcome, and
repeat the process - backwards. Ask yourself "What did
I do the minute/day/week before I ended up here at my
goal?" I like to start with what I was doing ten minutes
before I achieved the goal for certain and work my way
back a month or so.
Now, put both these beginning steps and the ending
few steps on a timeline - Give yourself a date of
completion and work out where halfway through might
be. Repeat the above process with the "half way to the
finish line" time period. Let’s say you have a goal it will
take a year to accomplish and you’re looking at six
months through the process. From the start until the
six month mark, what will you have accomplished in
that time? Again, go through the process until you
have the few weeks of steps prior to the halfway
through mark. Now you have three benchmarks with
detailed descriptions on a timeline towards
completion.
Last step, put these benchmark tasks into your
calendar
- List the beginning date, middle date and ending date, plus the tasks
to be done a few weeks preceding and following each. This will generate
a simple Daily To-Do List that for maximal success, you need to keep to
less than three action items. Fill in the dates on your calendar
between beginning and middle of the project, always looking towards the
next few days or weeks of tasks you’ve generated to provide you with
what needs to be filled in.
Timelining Example: If beginning
on January 1, assess the work you’ve done that month
in February, and looking at June, ask yourself "What is
it going to take today to get me
there?" In this manner, you will fill in
your entire calendar and never have a day where you
don’t know what to do to achieve the outcome you
seek, and will always know where you are in the
process. Instant checks and balances are available to
you when you simply look at your daily, weekly and
monthly calendar and To-Do lists, and gauge where you
are in the process.
Simple!
