Everyday Bliss For Women In Leadership

Do you Yoga? Yin Yoga and power sessions of Vinyasa Flow keep me unstressed and working in the top level of my capabilities most days. I don’t get colds anymore - I credit yoga among other self-care methods with keeping me healthy.  And it helps us ladies of a certain age to keep limber, prevent joint and back pain and keep the body fit and flexible

And others in business have found yoga to be their secret stress-busting weapon. Just listen to these professionals:

_“If you asked him a couple years ago whether he’d be doing yoga, Eddy Kelly would have called you crazy.

"My thing, for exercise, was to lift weights, go for a run, maybe play hockey in the fall and winter - but no thoughts of yoga," the 36-year-old said.

To the untrained eye, yoga looks more like the stretching you do before exercising than the actual exercise itself. It’s the warmup, not the muscle burner.

"I won’t say I thought of it as feminine at the time, but certainly not the type of workout where I would get in shape - not that strenuous thing I look to do twice a week," Kelly said. "But my opinion’s changed.

"It looks like you are stretching, but 10 minutes in, you are sweating."

"(Yoga) balances your day," Brenda Brown said. An executive assistant at a Bayers Lake-based company, she came up with the idea of holding the class. Yoga was offered at her previous job, and when she moved to Halifax, she made it her mission to introduce yoga at work.

"You have stressful things going on outside the office, inside the office, and if you just take an hour of your day, it really is productive. You can go back to your desk and tackle what you have to," she said.

Every Tuesday, about a dozen - mostly women - of the more than 100 employees get together in the cafeteria, push back tables, and roll out their yoga mats._”

A Powerful Pointer To Bliss:

Yoga is not simply the science and art of moving your body into a pretzel shape or sweating at high temperatures. The majority of yoga is concerned with "your inner pretzel", or yoga to develop the mind and soul. Inspiration is a powerful motivator and pointer towards enlightenment. Focus on what juices you, even though right now you can’t see how it will help you work through your management issue, product distribution troubles, or get a thousand pounds of rice into your charity’s warehouse, or…

Address any thoughts, beliefs and blockages to living fully expressed and in flow with the universe with ZPoint, EFT or your favorite energy therapy. These thoughts and beliefs bind us and keep us from fully expressing as Source. As you lose this bondage, those dormant forces, faculties and talents Patanjali speaks of will pop out of the woodwork with an energy and swiftness and appropriateness that will astonish and delight you. And you will discover yourself to be a greater person that you ever dreamed you could be.

They’re not fantastic and were taken with my cellphone, but here for you Ms. A, are the latest pics of Ms. M. The first while hiking in the Santa Cruz Redwoods, taking a break around an abandoned campfire ring and restarting the fire with dry wood from the wood cache. At $2.50 in quarters, it was worth every penny, though it was bloody cold and drippity-droppity after a rain, and drips off the redwood branchess kept putting the fire out! Pity there were no marshmallows though…

Rest In Peace, LimeTV. Lime was one of the only television channels I watched weekly, as it showcased environmental issues, green politics and alternative healthcare programming. Funding for programming seems to have run out in late 2005 and Lime existed for the last year in reruns. I tuned in to the "Everyday Yoga" program today only to find a short announcement:

"We regret to inform you LIME will cease broadcasting at midnight ET on 2/25/07."

VIDEO 4U: Hottie Alert! My sister-in-law thinks Rodney Yee is the hottest things in yoga shorts. He’s not bad on the eyes and is an even greater yoga instructor for all levels. I’ll miss Rodney’s "Everyday Yoga" progams (one can only hope he’ll be picked up by public TV), but there are short segment videos still available at Lime.com.
