Support World Water Day!

Saturday, March 18th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

As an energy worker, I know how important it is to keep hydrated. Clean water - and plenty of it, is absolutely necessary for the health of the organism. Withold water, confusion, headaches/fuzziness and systemic faults occur that given time, magnify into serious dysfunction. Clean water is a very important thing for all human beings to have, yet some in the world have polluted water, or none at all.

Yvonne Divita writes in to Andy Wibbels’ blog http://andywibbels.com/post/1070:

WaterPartners International is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping fight unsafe and inadequate water supplies. World Water Day is quickly approaching and will be celebrated on March 22, 2006! The Global water crisis is the leading cause of death and disease in the world, taking the lives of more than 14,000 people each day, 11,000 of whom are children under age 5. Did you know that the average distance that women in Africa and Asia walk to collect water is 6 kilometers? In addition to the health problems, more than 200 million hours are spent every day by women and girls walking to collect water from distant, often polluted sources—time that could be better spent on more productive endeavors such as work and school.

Andy comments: "Few things drive me nuttier than this and water privatization. Is clean fresh water a right or a privilege? You’d think the answer would be easy."

I agree with Andy. I intuitively *feel* that clean water is a right. But I also know that the concept of "rights" is an exclusively Western one in many ways. I can ask the same question of clean air.

I believe it is my right to breathe clean air. The many smokers of cigars and cigarettes who actaully seem to delight in blowing their smoke in our faces and watching us choke, say that we have no such right. THEY on the contrary, have the "right" to smoke as and when they wish and if I don’t like it, I don’t have to walk down the city street they happen to be walking on. But they’re everywhere and as outdoors is the only place smokers in California can legally smoke, it is impossible to get away from them. Same debate, different substance. Each feels they are right. Who is?

Who can say.

The Long Day’s Dining Into Night @ ICF-Con 2005

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005 by Maryam Webster

AndyandsteverHere are pictures of some lovely people at the recent International Coach Federation Conference held in San Jose, California. Most of them I spent the day and much of the night eating with. At left you have the fantabulous Stever Robbins  with that wildman of blogging, Andy Wibbels. This as many in this series was taken at Il Fornaio restaurant in San Jose after a very long day of eating with different groups of people (Andy was a constant) about every two hours or so as the presentations conferenceside were frankly, boring. The conversation at these small get-togethers of friends and colleagues that have worked together for years (or just newly met) were on the other hand, stimulating, insightful and bred many new alliances, friendships and joint ventures…

Donnamaryamcarolsheri

Ah! And at that same lavish soiree were gathered myself, Donna Steinhorn, Carol Solomon and Sheri Horne - Il Fornaio’s Pizza Cristina was fabuloso as usual but the talk and cameraderie were surpassingly excellent…

Andreamaryamtina We all agreed that the one nice thing about the conference was the Exhibition Hall, which was separated from the main speakers area by space and heavy curtains. I’m here with Andrea Lee and Tina Forsyth of the Multiple Streams of Coaching Income with the Pink Spoon I created while in the program. It’s literally my Certified Energy Coach Program Startup Kit free CD, with a real pink spoon from the icecream store attached as a gag for Andrea. Made ya laugh, A!  <g>

Gosh, I look a little punchy. And no, I don’t do drugs - ’twas all the late nights catching up with me…as they were with all of us…

RibaldroundtableIn between this late lunch and the cocktail hour, we were politely asked to move out of the restaurant while it was prepared for the dinner crowd. Not content to stop our chat, we took to the streets, ambling about looking for a place to perch. We ended up in the conference Networking area, a crew of "ribald refugees" that included here seen, Andy Wibbels, Donna Steinhorn and Kim George.

Maryam Webster, Andy Wibbels and John Miles

This was last thing at night, around midnight, after Andy and I had a final nosh, nibble and very late dinner and the equally irrepressible John Miles, here all the way from Devon, England. John is an energetic dancer and a brilliant conversationalist. This was one of the most interesting dinners I had…and a perfect end to a very, VERY long day.

Thanks folks, for a conference I’ll remember fondly for a long, long time!

Reminisence Of The ICF 2005 Closing Gala

Sunday, November 13th, 2005 by Maryam Webster

After picking up Andy in what he describes as my "EFT-mobile", I breakfasted with Stever Robbins, who wowed me with technology all morning as he sat at one of the conference computers. I ate my yogurt-granola-blueberries parfait standing up and looking on in amazement. When I get the URLs from him, I’ll let you know, but it was the coolest-ever online project coordination package and another that did client tracking. At least one of them was free to use and the other a paltry sum a month. That’s one thing these conferences are excellent for, learning new stuff!

After a rousing all-faiths spirituality-in-coaching workshop with Laura Berman Fortgang, Andy suggested I meet Suzanne Falter Barnes, whose birthday it was. Happy Birthday, Suzanne! I raised my water bottle to her and we toasted - she with champagne and such wonderful and charismatic energy. (may her arm grow ever stronger) Suzanne spoke of the Writer’s Spa she conducts with Jennifer Louden, and we had a mutual "aha" moment about some of the things we are both doing. Such a nice connect! Coming to such conferences is worth it for the sweet people one meets alone. And where better than a coaching conference to find such like-minded gems?

I decided to return home for a nap before the Gala. Many were leaving the conference before I got away, which cued outpourings of mutual admiration, goodbyes and warm hugs from everyone I met. I did so want to be able to chat, get to know people better and spend some more time just basking in the "coach glow". The conference was way too short in that respect. Despite the vagaries of the Program, I think I speak for everyone in that.

<aside> Anyone for ditching the exhibition hall and having a marshmallow roast around a roaring campfire out in the woods? Singing, tall tales, jokes, cameraderie and moonlit dalliance…now that would be my idea of a GREAT "unconference"! </aside>

Tonight saw the closing Gala for the International Coach Federation Conference. After a grand dinner with both roast beef and grilled salmon, small grand pianos made entirely of dark chocolate and filled with chocolate truffles and chocolate-dipped strawberries were served with champagne. I didn’t attend the program, but caught the aftermath of the dinner which looked wonderful. I saw Stever as I got to the dance but was whisked away by the irrepressible and spritely John Miles before I could do more than exchange a wave.

Stever, you still owe me an East Coast swing lesson.

Fortunately I didn’t suffer lack of partners. And that wily John Miles! Who knew he was the Disco King of Devon? He danced my socks off - I don’t think I’ve ever had a more relentlessly cheeful and energetic partner. Only wish I’d had more energy to keep on going (I think he probably still is…) His Rosie is a lucky gal…

A foray into the decimated banquet hall revealed chocolate pianos still stuffed with truffles and strawberries, just begging to be taken. A chat with local executive coach Vivienne Powell, happily met for the first time in a long time gained me introductions to Cheryl and Greg and made a warm connection to Viv herself, a coach I definitely value spending more time with. Amidst the destruction of the room by the night crew, we each took a chocolate piano, well wrapped in paper to protect from melting mess. SInce I’ve done the sugar process with my buddy Angela, I don’t really want to eat the chocolates (hurray!). I’ll take it home to the J-Bear though - he will enjoy waking up and opening the refrigerator to see an overstuffed chocolate piano staring him in the face.

And the night winds down….Tsahai Ungar of Oakland, another local and force of nature as "the Love Doc" and I ended up dancing with John after a lengthy and sumptuous group hug, brandishing roses from the table displays in our mouths, chest pockets and cleavages. My last dance was a slow one with a beautiful coach whose name was Eloise. Reminded me of the dances at the all-girl college I went to in the 70’s - she led masterfully and well. I’ve never been spun quite like that. Damfine lady, Eloise.

I met the beautiful and talented Valerie Green in the ladies room - we had a nice warm hug and good time chatting together. She is part of the crew that puts on the MSOCI conferences and other excellent networking opportunities. I am so glad I got to know her better and had the chance to really connect. It’s nice to know the people who do the real work behind the scenes at these events, and I’m so glad I got a chance to make that sweet connection.

That’s what this conference was all about for me - that sense of connection with others. My first conference as a fledgling coach I ran around like a crazy person. I handed out business cards and tried to talk to as many people as I possibly could in as short a time as possible. Such is the path of the newbie coach! Succeeding conferences have been different though. Focusing on depth of connection with fewer people has dramatically improved my experience of the conference, and has allowed me to get to know people more fully. From that place, we are all moving joyfully and energetically forward.

2006 promises to be the year that we all take off together in bigger, wider and at the same time, more comfy-cosy flights of business and personal greatness. Here’s a hail and a tip of the hat to the many of you that I am pleased and honored to know, to work with and to have grown closer to at ICF 2005.

Here’s to a relentlessly wonderful 2006 for us all!

Goin’ To the ICF Conference!

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005 by Maryam Webster

So all day from today through Sunday (whew!) I’m going to be at the International Coach Federation conference at the McEnergy Convention Center (okay, it’s really called the "McEnery" but I couldn’t resist!) in San Jose, CA. Thank goodness, one conference I don’t have to fly to or get a hotel for! If you’re going to the conference and read this blog, please do come up and introduce yourself.  (see below for instructions on how to recognize me currently - grin)

Andy Wibbels and I are planning a reunion "let’s get cosy" party to which everyone is invited, at 7pm Friday in the Palm Room (aka "The Baronial Hall") to the right of the front desk of the St. Claire hotel. The hotel is right across Market Street from the convention center, at the corner of San Carlos St. The award-winning Il Fornaio restaurant is just down the hall and will cater our meals or drinks to this gorgeous front lounge area, replete with massive fireplaces, wing chairs and an amazing painted ceiling straight out of a 16th century English castle setting.

There is even, I believe, a tapestry or two.   wink

Website with the outside view of the hotel that you will see from the conference center is here:

http://www.thesainteclaire.com/index.html

I’m coming to the conference to relax, so you’ll probably find me lurking around the massage area waiting my turn, cooling off in the coffee bar or strolling around the convention center just hangin’ out. Please feel free to grab me and chat - I’d love to meet you!

One update: I’ll be easy to recognize as the short, chunky, bespectacled woman with the equally short, spiky hair colored in multiple hues of flame & fire. I light up like a carnival ride in the sun and tend to wear a lot of purple and green. People aren’t recognizing the new hair, so I thought I’d serve an early warning. <cue merry laughter>

Look forward to meeting everybody!

A Magical Spell For Polluted Water In The Gulf States

Friday, September 9th, 2005 by Maryam Webster

I was thinking about all the toxins in the water down south. About how they’re pumping the New Orleans floodwater into Lake Ponchartrain and the toxicologists are saying the Lake may not recover living organisms for years. My stomach tried desperately to have a hissy fit, but a strong session of releasing with energy therapy stopped it. Then I remembered that I, that anyone, can *bless*. The following is from my manual for The Certified Energy Coach Program. It contains the teachings on water from many different traditions, normalized to fit our basic, multicultural American experience. Bless the water that you drink. Bless that which you bathe in. Send long distance blessings to the toxic, lead-laden water in the southern states. And send blessings to the water all the survivors are drinking…bottled or not.

Falling in Love with Water…

One of the deepest mysteries of the Energy Coaching tradition is the initiation through Water. We are born perfectly hydrated. Within a few years of life, we slowly lose that perfect state of hydration to exist in an ongoing state of semi-dehydration. It is this state that researchers (see below) have pinpointed as the core cause of most of the diseases and mental difficulties that ail us. When properly hydrated, things work beautifully. Without enough water, we sludge along at a fraction of our capacity, susceptible to diseases, mechanical dysfunction and emotional fragility. Our bodies are over 70% water. Fail to replenish this supply, and your success at Energy work will be marginalized for both you and your clients. It is therefore the Energy Coach’s first instruction both for themselves and their clients to:

“Drink water!  Lots of it!â€?

The work that we do in Energy Coaching is accomplished through the physical mediators of nerve and muscle. These in turn run best when very well hydrated. Water is needed to grease the mechanisms by which our tissues do their various jobs and also to carry away waste products. I will therefore pass along to you the first commandment that Margaret Hennessey, my Touch for Health teacher quipped: “Thou shalt drink a minimum of eight, 8 ounce glasses of water per day. No less than that shalt thou drink, and let the water be pure!â€?  Being British, Margaret also believed heartily in a good strong cup of tea on a regular basis, but it’s best to leave tea and coffee for occasional treats due to their dehydrating, acidifying effects.

Like many people, I’ve been an ardent devotee of coffee, tea and soda. I finally had the penny drop on water as a cure when I connected a number of seemingly unrelated symptoms to dehydration. As a result, I have spent the past year falling in love with water and coming home to its incredible powers of healing, age-proofing, meditation and depth. Also for its pliability, programmability and how soft it makes my skin when I drink lots of it. More and more as I up my intake of pure water, interesting things are occurring within my biocircuit. I am increasingly able to think about a thing one moment and it literally appears the next. The time between observing that change is desirable and that change being implemented has shortened dramatically and since I’ve upped my intake of water, I’m not hungry at all. Dr. Batman [see below] says that most hunger pangs are really signals of thirst. With all this water on board, I’m hydrated and my stomach is comfortably full, hence am eating less. I’m losing weight, my skin glows and I’ve not had major illness since upping my intake of water. I feel lighter, cleaner and very, very calm. All in all, a grand and excellent thing.

A Japanese researcher, Dr. Masaru Emoto has been sharing some interesting observations about water in his Messages From Water books which interestingly corroborate the properties of water that spiritual practitioners have long worked with. The reviewer from Amazon’s website shares these perceptions:

"The Hidden Messages in Water is an eye-opening theory showing how water is deeply connected to people’s individual and collective consciousness. Drawing from his own research, scientific researcher, healer, and popular lecturer Dr. Masaru Emoto describes the ability of water to absorb, hold, and even retransmit human feelings and emotions. Using high-speed photography, he found that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward it. Music, visual images, words written on paper, and photographs also have an impact on the crystal structure. Emoto theorizes that since water has the ability to receive a wide range of frequencies, it can also reflect the universe in this manner. He found that water from clear springs and water exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns, while polluted water and water exposed to negative thoughts forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. Emoto believes that since people are 70 percent water, and the Earth is 70 percent water, we can heal our planet and ourselves by consciously expressing love and goodwill."

While this may seem a stretch for some, this concurs with current theory about energy therapies and is a perfect complement to them. Folks have been charging water since prehistoric times to help and heal. Baptist and Mormon ministers, Catholic priests and Jewish mothers as well as shamanic practitioners all do this. Water is commonly used as a sacred element in many rituals of healing and sacrament as from ancient times, we knew that water had the ability to hold resonance. Spiritual masters of all traditions blessed water to be given to the sick and water as a sacred substance is used to baptize, cleanse and nourish. Since most illnesses have their roots in chronic dehydration, water’s ability to heal is not as much of a stretch as it might first appear. And if water were given the added imprint of loving, perfected energy, such as the Hado or "universal" frequency of perfection Dr. Emoto speaks of, such charged water would invite the fibers it hydrates to resonate at that same frequency, as it is absorbed. Reiki is one well-known energy therapy that taps into this universal harmonic and its essence is said to be “universal life-force energyâ€?.  All energy therapies tap into the universal frequency however, whether they say so or not. And that energy can only move perfectly thorough the body when it is well hydrated. And what water can do is sheer magic.

Water Magic If you want to try and amp-up your energy when you intake water, here is a simple water charging/cleansing that the women of my family (who are very superstitious on my Welsh granny’s side) use to purify our family’s drinking water. This is magic of the holiest sort. How does this work? You are bringing your intent, or resonance into contact with the main constituent of your physical body, creating sympathetic resonance between both you and it until you both resonate at the Universal Perfection frequency. Be reverential as you hold the water vessel - you’re holding your family’s very health in your hands (and your own - you should be drinking your own product!). This is the magical part…and what would magic be without an incantation? Here it is, incant with good cheer as you feel or visualize the container filling with pure white light:

"O pure and perfect creature of water, I cast out all unclean within you Let light and love dwell here within With (Deity’s) hand upon it So it is, blessed be it"

Or words to that effect. You can substitute your Deity of choice or not, as you wish. The point is to raise the vibration of the water if it’s polluted, passed through the hands of a negative person (becoming imprinted with negativity) or otherwise contaminated. The goal is to raise the energy frequency to water’s most perfect expression. You could also say that you’re trying to get water’s most basic and pure molecular format, or you could see it as raising water’s frequency to, as Wayne Dyer says in his landmark book The Power of Intention, “the intent of the mind of Godâ€?.

Simple chants like this are a form of prayer that ask politely for the Divine to cast out any unclean spirits (or pollution, or negative thoughtform impressions, etc.) and return the water to it’s original pure and perfect state. A simple matter, also easily accomplished with no chant or supplication, just the power of one’s focused intent. Choose your tool, each will get the job done. And when you consume such positively and lovingly charged water, you will notice a wonderful boost of energy and a cleaner feeling to your entire system. To get as near to perfect as possible before we even get out of the gate, start with water that has already been purified, preferably by carbon block filtration. Advanced Mages will want to go even further and use a pure-sourced water such as Trinity or Evian. Recommendation: Do this little blessing at least once a day, if not more often. Repeat often, as desired and drink deep of health, purity and perfection.

As I was reflecting on the immense healing power of water I thought how nice a thing it is to love your family so much that you want them to drink only the best, and that the essential elixir vitæ is both medicament and “Wellness Aid Numero Uno. My grandmother Mimi served up water for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a huge blue Delftware pitcher replete with little Dutch boy and windmill. She had a way of brushing the pitcher with her hand before putting it on the table. Her lips would move in the briefest of blessings as she set the pitcher down, and always before the first grabby grandbaby (often me) clapped grubby paws to the drink. I still have that pitcher today and it still radiates the gentle loving my grandmother, then mother, and now myself, put into it. What a sacred treasure!

What small, comforting rituals can you develop to make sure you are fully hydrated and taking in the loving intent and other qualities you want in your life?

Recommended Resources on Water

You will want to get for your office, and suggest to your clients the absolute source on water as a healing potion, a physician with the rather interesting name of "Dr Batman" who has several wonderful books on the subject that quite enlightened us all. Dr. Fereydoon Batmangelidj advocates moisture of the purest kind as a panacea - water, and only water as a restorative, antihistamine, anti-cancer agent and a direct counteractant to back pain and obesity. All of these topics caught my eye as I raced with wild abandon through his Water for Health, For Healing, For Life: You’re not Sick, You’re Thirsty! Dr. Batmangelidj was a political prisoner in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison. Pressed into service to doctor other inmates and having little else, he began scientific experimentation with water as medicine. During this time he documented miraculous cures by giving copious quantities of water, and only water to his patients. His website speaks of this and of collusion between organized medicine and the drug companies to conceal the fact that dehydration is the cause of most illness:

"It is chronic dehydration that causes the pains and degenerative diseases of the human body." It is clinically and scientifically clear that the human body has many distinct ways of showing its general or local water needs. Depending on where there is water shortage, many localized complications such as asthma are produced. We believe this information has been methodically and fraudulently concealed until now. Over 18 years of research has now revealed a simple natural cure for so many painful and serious health problems. It is called "WATER CURE."    - Dr. F. Batmangelidj

Guess what? those "eight, eight ounce glasses" are just a starting point. Pour a pinch of salt on your hand every morning says Dr. B., and lick it off before your first glass of water for the day. That will keep just enough moisture inside your body. Enjoy the experience of enlightenment. Very enlightening, particularly combined with the action of further charging the massive amount of water you NEED to take into your body every day with the positive intent of whatever you need in your life right now. Wouldn’t that be an interesting thing to play with? I wonder what that would get you and your clients if you blessed your water with intent every day, as many times a day as you filled your glass, for the next year? Sheer magic, and one we cannot do without.

May You Never Thirst!

What Orifice…

Donate to save the victims of Hurricane Katrina who are in desperate need

…do our leaders, FEMA and natural disaster managers have their heads up in? I am seeing more and more coverage of the devastation Hurricane Katrina wrought…which no one was at fault for. Even worse though, like we all are, I am witnessing the pathethic lack of appropriate response to the victims, many of whom have been without food or water for four or five days now. ("the bastards!" my inner Militant Humanist mutters "the bloody bastards!" Time for EFT…tap-tap-tap-tap-tap…..)

Why is more attention not paid to the suffering of Hurricane Katrina victims? When America is known for whizzing to the rescue of every third world country similiarly jeopardized, why IN OUR OWN COUNTRY is this help so VERY SLOW in coming? Speaker after speaker in the media have labelled the national disaster organizations response as "disgraceful", "shamefully slow" and even, "murderous".

Why? Patients in hospitals are dying from heat, babies from lack of milk, diabetics from lack of insulin. Doctors cannot perform life saving surgeries due to lack of clean water so patients are dying, in droves. And shockingly, instead of being available to help people get out of the ruined cities, a large sector of police are fighting dangerous battles with an increasing criminal element in New Orleans and elsewhere. Who frighteningly, like scenes from apocalyptic science fiction novels, are taking over the city’s dark and abandoned buildings, and control of large sectors of the city.

Newscasters are speaking in terms of what they witness looking exactly like natural tragedies they have covered in third world countries. An NBC news reporter said after covering the tragedy today, that he was anxious to get back home to the States…only to realize with shock, that he had never left.

This is not the America I grew up in. I may be dating myself, but when I was a kid, people gave a damn about their neighbors, even if those neighbors were thousands of miles away. And when things like this happened, people dug deep and gave, contributed personally or volunteered their time and effort to help out.

Even more shocking than our leaders seeming indifference, is that of the person on the street. I’ve heard in grocery stores, online and in various places I have been in the last few days how "jaded" people are with giving to disaster causes. An example: "I gave to that earthquake in Bam, Iran, and that was it. I’m done." said a man in line for the teller at my bank. I couldn’t believe it. For crying out loud folks, this is OUR country! You can donate to causes in other countries but not here, at home? That is just SO not cool.

It’s not that I don’t get it. I get tired of the same-old-same-old just like anyone else. I’m a little jaded with the seeming non-stop bad news in the world myself, but life is change and whirling chaos (scientists have actually proved that every ordered system naturally devolves back to chaos). Get used to it. Messed in the head about it? Then learn EFT (click here), TAT (click here), or just about any other energy therapy and get past it. But don’t just turn away. Don’t ignore those that "there but for the grace of God"  - could well be you.

Agree? Disagree? Feel Free To Leave A Comment, Below.

So click the icon above and donate via PayPal, or any other reputable disaster charity. That’s what I did. I’m lazy and didn’t want to type in my whole credit card number, and already have a PayPal account. PayPal donates to the United Way which helps out in such situations. There are a ton of other agencies though - take your pick. Your local news station will have a donation fund as well.

By the way, I don’t get a flat dime for putting this icon up there, it’s not an affiliate link or anything, and goes straight to PayPal. But speaking of affiliate links, I am donating every penny I get for the next month from affiliate links to Hurricane Katrina victim relief. Thinking of babies dying with no milk to feed them drives me crazy. So does seeing people dying for lack of water in America, the richest nation in the world. It’s disgraceful. And this is what I can do. What can you do?

So, if you’re interested in getting a good deal on the following services and want to make sure the donations go to a good cause, click these puppies and I personally guarantee every cent of affiliate dough I make will go to the relief effort:

B&O Espresso Seattle - having wonderful time!

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005 by Maryam Webster

B&O Espresso Seattle - having wonderful time!

Mobloggin’ from the B&O Espresso cafe in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill district. Where locals go for the best late night java & desserts-to-diet-for. Whiskey bread pudding here is worth doing pennance for. Seattle’s coffee culture probably peaked in the late 90’s say the perky baristas. The culture vulture scene is all but passe, and has been taken over by a more community center and "good first date place-a-la-Friends" type of aroma. Hip fashionistas are at a minimum - comfortable shoes and relaxed waistlines predominate. Thanks be to Caffiena, Goddess of the Dimensionally Oppressed.

The vacation is mostly good, despite whirlwind-tour fatigue and a pulled muscle or two from hiking. OSF’s rendition of Marlowe’s Faustus was delightfully diabolic, Will’s 12th, earnest if frothy, & the state of Ma Rainey’s bottom in Ashland, Oregon was…black indeed. J-Bear and I luxuriate in several hours of backgammon, philosophical dialectic and random meanderings spiced with cappucino, brandy flambeed brie and red grapes, pecan tartlettes, lemonade and cucumber sandwiches.

Further explication anon, for a fine, dark breve and a board of hnefetafl calleth. Avaunt et exeunt all…goodnight!

A SPECIAL (FREE) LONDON BOMBING SUPPORT CALL

LONDON BOMBING & Terrorism Support Resources

Thursday, July 7th, 2005 by Maryam Webster

Londonbombing_vidcap_1Beloved Friends, I’m wearing my tie-dye today in support of Peace, Love and Happier Times and I’m sharing here too, this very-quickie video of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping to help folks get past the terror, sadness, anger & grief we’re all feeling. (after only four hours sleep with no makeup - but lookin’ crappy doesn’t *even* matter at this point) You’ll need this info for our FREE SUPPORT CALL tomorrow at noon (see item #6, below) If you’re in a hurry to get started though, go here to get the full instructions:

http://quantumflow.com/eftbasics.html

Then click on the picture at upper left to launch the quickie tapping video. You’ll need both to really get it, if you’ve never done EFT before, but rejoice - it’s easy! Below are a great collection of Tips on how to Take Relevant, Intentional Action, Feel Safer in the World, a Free Telegathering tomorrow for you to take part in, and  instruction on how to deal with your emotions at this time. Enjoy the relaxation that follows, and know that none of us are alone…

What We Can Do Just before a session with my own coach today, I heard that two of my dear friends are potential victims of the London bombings. I came onto our call in shock, tapping, using EFT to clear my distress, but very off-center. We spoke about how very much our hearts went out to those in England who are the victims, and the families and friends of the victims, and the sense of disempowerment and futility I felt.

But in the midst of that futility, the EFT kicked in and I calmed down as if by magic. I also remembered back almost four years ago, when I was privileged to be one of the coordinators of spiritual people in a worldwide prayer, magical ritual and meditation for peace at midnight, the night of 9/11. Staggeringly, what we thought would be a small, hundreds-strong effort, circled the globe nine or ten times at the close of that fateful day and many, many thousands wrote to say that they had joined in. And I remembered that my effort, small though it might be on its own counts, and our combined effort counts even more.

To our dear friends and colleagues in England:

Our hearts, our minds, our prayers and our fervent wishes for peace are with you at this time. Please know that we in the U.S. are here for you and stand firmly by your side in the face of this tragedy, as you stood by ours during the aftermath of 9/11/2001.

We are here. We stand strong beside you, heart to heart, hand in hand. Please use that strength as you need it in the coming days and months. And too, there are other tools and actions you can take, particularly if you are as I was, feeling disempowered and as if your own efforts are an exercise in futility. Please know that they aren’t, and consider:

POSITIVE HEALING STEPS TO TAKE IN THE WAKE OF WORLD TRAGEDY

1) Set your intention NOW, that you are going to be PART OF THE SOLUTION. How that manifests is up to you. You can meditate, pray, work magical rituals for peace and healing, join political movements, contribute to the Red Cross or other organizations that comfort the victims of tragedy. You can offer "survival and getting on with life" coaching, sympathetic ears or volunteerism to those affected by this tragedy. Or whatever your heart leads you to, just SET your intention and DO IT NOW.

We KNOW that extremely focused intention can literally move mountains by restructuring the flow of energy at quantum levels. I just posted on this at my blog for the science-minded, a relevant portion of which is:

"The ‘reality’ that is manifested around us is subject to change, based on the simple concept of A.I.R:

A.ttention to that which we wish to change - dogged, persistent Attention I.ntention to effect change - Intention that is hyper-focused upon, like a dog with a bone R.epetition - Constant Repetition of our Attention and repetitive reaffirmation of our Intention/s.

Change what you place your attention on, change the intentions you approach life with and reinforce this repetitively, and change will happen in your life and in the world at large."

You can read the whole article in the archives if you wish: http://maryamwebster.blogs.com/sage_wisdom/2005/06/in_here_out_the.html

2) If you or others you know are suffering from the trauma of these events, you can relieve your suffering, often in minutes, with the very powerful energy modification technique known as "Emotional Freedom Technique". Go to my website for full instructions:

http://www.quantumflow.com/eftbasics.html

To cut to the meat, scroll down to the purple title: "EFT In a Nutshell - Here’s How" and start reading/tapping. This stuff works very quickly once you get it in hand. Print out the tapping points picture to have in front of you while you read the instructions.

3) Again, check out the quick video of EFT tapping technique before you check into tomorrow’s SPECIAL SUPPORT CALL (see #6, below).

4) If you’re feeling isolated, alone and your feelings of ineffectualness in the face of this tragedy are mounting, get out! Go and connect with others wherever you might find them. Places that tend to bring you out of yourself at times like this and which may have special programming to help you vent, share and cope are: churches, synagogues, mosques, community centers, coffee shops, libraries, universities, therapy clinics and even gyms.

You generally don’t need to be a member of any of these institutions to attend during a time of world emergency. Local gyms in my area offered a free week to anyone who walked in off the street, needing to relieve stress through exercise. Churches, clinics and community centers did the same. Get out of your own thoughts for awhile and go connect with your fellow human beings.

5) Suspend Your Judgement. As many of you know, I have a significant history in Islam. For those who don’t, I spent four years as a Muslim in college, cloaked, scarfed, the whole nine yards. It turned out not to be my thing in the end, but I respect Islam and its adherents, and understand as well as a former muslimah might, what is going on in the minds of Muslims who might be living around you. Simply put - they’re scared to death.

9/11 was very hard on all Americans, but was especially so in a terrible way for American Muslims, the majority of whom are peaceful, law-abiding people. They were reviled, spat at, harrassed and beaten up. Several were even killed, just for their ethic style of dress in the heated days that followed the events of 9/11. Now it’s happening again, in another country with a significant Muslim presence, and the fear both in America and the U.K. is palpable.

I implore you please to coach all you meet to withold judgement of Muslims and Islam at this time. The real religion of Islam does not teach terrorism - the vast majority of Muslims are good people who simply want to be left alone to practice their religion in peace. And they are as horrified as the rest of us are at these events.

In all religions, spiritualites or ways of life worldwide, withholding judgement and negative acts are virtues. The Bible says "Judge not, that you may not be judged". The Qur’an itself says: "…those who control their wrath and are forgiving to mankind; Allah loveth the good". [Al-Qur’an, Sura 4 v.134] and also "…when others do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore Him for forgiveness of their sins.." [Al-Qur’an, Sura 3 v.135]

Let tolerance for the law-abiding majority of peaceful Muslims be your shield against hysteria and further wrongs. Those who have committed these terrible crimes in the name of Islam are NOT Muslim, for they have forsaken the teachings of peace - the words Islam, Muslim and the greeting "Salaam" itself stem from a root word meaning "Surrender to Peace".

Those who surrender to violence soil not only the Islamic religion, but all Muslims, worldwide. Law-abiding Muslims are as much the victim of these crimes as the rest of the citizenry - more so, even. They are seeing their beloved faith dragged through the mud again, witnessing horrific crimes perpetrated in its name. They deserve our sympathy and our support, not our derision.
