Instant Change Like “A Piece Of Cake”

Friday, September 29th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

Robert Dilts in this week’s NLP World Health training program reminded us that the basics equation of NLP is very simple:

Present State + Added Resources -> Desired State

Tim Hallbom and Suzi Smith introduced a lovely NLP technique in the program that wasn’t in the manual and perfectly illustrates this process. They called it "A Piece of Cake" because it was changing a negative bodily symptom very simply, and features the use of submodality elicitation and mapping-over.

Briefly: Use floor anchors. Starting with a physical symptom step on anchor, fully describe it, stepping out of that place on the floor step into another and fully describe an incident of self-healing (a bruise that healed, a scrape or sprain etc.) and do this three times. Note your physiology in all states. Anchor each positive resource physiology in the resource state and stack these anchors for each of three self-healing incidents. Take these stacked anchors back to the Symptom anchor and release. Note what changes.

The below diagram is for my NLP family and training buddies but if you’re interested, I will be featuring this process in a forthcoming class…stay tuned for details! Click on the diagram for a larger, readable copy:

NLP World Health Training

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

It has been a wonderful week here at the NLP World Health training – I am now a Certified Master  Health Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming through the NLP and Coaching Institute of California. And I have to say, better people you cannot find in the world. Where has this "family of the heart" been all my life? I wish I’d started taking NLP trainings back in the early 80’s when they were first introduced to my psychotherapy graduate cohort!

At the graduation ceremony capping fifteen days of intense training, everyone formed a very long double line and from Suzi Smith as "birth coach" at the "womb end", we all processed down this very supportive hugging, touching, uplifting double line through to Tim and Kris Hallbom at the end of the line being "born anew" with our NLP family chanting "We love and suppport you on your journey!" and other messages of love and appreciation At the end, our certificates came with a warm hug from Tim and special blessing and warm hug from Kris.

WOW. With stuff like this who needs drugs, fantasy games or trips into outer space? This rite of passage ritual produced the desired effect through the liminal, with great new resources gathered and assured, support network aplenty and into a new life armed with so much more than we thought we had coming in on day one. Every single NLP training has been like this for all of us. Being an orphan, practically speaking, I’ve taken the challenge of attracting family of the heart and my goodness, what an amazing, dear, precious and wonderful crew has gathered. It’s nice to know we will be there for each other for life, in a healthy, uplifting and mutually supportive way. What a true blessing.

Got dysfunction in your family? Sovereign remedy: NLP training. It may not change your blood relations, but it will change you. And afford you the opportunity to connect with those who will support you in healthy and creative ways.

NLP is really great energy work, transforming often in a fraction of the time that even the energy therapies such as EFT, BSFF, TAT and ZPoint. And sometimes not as fast, but bringing in far more resources to bear on the problem at hand. Using NLP with any one of the above therapies more sharply points and fine-tunes them to work so very much better  – this is what we do in The Certified Energy Coach Program. Go take a look at that here.

EFT May Prevent Tobacco from Killing Billions…

Sunday, September 24th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

I truly detest few things in life, but cigarette smoke is one of them. I grew up under the tutelage of a shamanic practitioner who revered tobacco too much to ever smoke it, and on the rare occasion he did, it was certainly never casually. And of that handful of times, tobacco smoke was always an offering to Spirit or for a healing purpose. My Grandmother Mimi, an herbal healer, used tobacco juice as an effective and natural insecticide and a poultice of fresh tobacco leaves for arthritis pains. Grandfather Bampa, the pharmacist, prescribed a tobacco leaf and clove poultice for toothaches.

These are respectful and honest uses of a powerful herb that most healers and indigenous peoples regard as a poison to be taken in small quantities if at all. Cigarette smoking, the way most of the world has been indoctrinated, is an unhealthy and potentially fatal way to be in relationship with the powerful herb tobacco.

In this recent press release, Gary Craig, inventor of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), speaks of its power to free individuals from the tremendously addictive properties of tobacco and more – to relieve the emotional roots of the problems people use tobacco and other drugs to escape:

An easy to learn acupressure technique
could curb the tobacco-related death toll. Emotional Freedom Techniques
(EFT) addresses the root of cigarette addictions, believed to be
unresolved emotional issues. Gary Craig, the Stanford-trained engineer
who developed EFT, explains, “In my experience working with smokers for
more than a decade, they use cigarettes to tranquilize emotions. But
conventional smoking cessations programs do not address smoking
addictions at the emotional level.”

EFT claims an 80% success
rate in reducing these emotional issues and a curbing of addictive
urges are the frequent result. It can be learned freely here:

EFT Often Provides Instant Relief For Migraines

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

A woman from New Zealand emailed me recently on referral from a colleague, asking for my help with blinding migraine headaches she was suffering. I rarely do this kind of work as an Energy Coach, but heartily recommended Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to her and also to you, if you are a migraine sufferer.

EFT For Relief Of Pain Of All Sorts

Suffering is ENTIRELY optional! EFT has a remarkable reputation for relieving the pain of migraines and other kinds of headaches. While EFT is not a magic bullet – (NO energy therapy is) relief from pain is one of the main reasons people use EFT. EFT also works quite well for menstrual pain, symptoms of menopause, disease processes and other physical symptoms. There is a wealth of information at the original EFT website. Here is the link that will take you direct to the Pain Relief resources. Read through the different ways EFT can be used and as founder Gary Craig says: "try it on everything!"

Fill Your Groups – Now!

Saturday, September 16th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

Are you a coach or therapist without enough people in the groups you offer? It’s an ongoing problem – or can be – but there’s help. My good friend Suzanne Falter-Barnes and internet marketing star Travis Greenlee’s business-building course, Fill Your Groups Now! begins on Tuesday, September 19th. If you click on the name of the course above, you can get a cool 7-part minicourse on the "7 Costly Mistakes Service Professionals Make when Filling Groups and How To Avoid Them"

If you are a service provider of any kind with this problem, you need this course. Of their longer version, Suzanne and Travis say:

You know how you spend all this money on info products
and they’re just grossly general? They say things like ‘Now, go out and
determine your target market’. Period.

Well, I always want to throw my hands up and say, “Show me where to begin!” That’s a big undertaking, so where’s the support?

With
this product, we’ve laid it all out so it’s totally, step-by-step
systematic — and that’s why I’m so psyched, because I’ve always wanted
to create marketing systems like this.
For instance, I have a nearly 20 page questionnaire in the workbook on how to determine your market. That’s good stuff!

The Four Techniques For Wellbeing

Friday, September 15th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

I was reading Ron Ball’s EFT Zone blog and found a great lead to subtle energy practitioner Boyd Martin’s website with its "Four Techniques: Never Fail Methods To Regain Balance and Wellbeing". Here’s the first with a link below to the whole post:

PRACTICE #1 – The Inner Smile
Youngmonksmiling

spacer.gif I first read about this in a book by Taoist Master, Mantak Chia, Awaken Healing Light.  The entire book is absolutely fascinating, but this one practice is emphasized as being very important:

  • Smile with your face.
  • Then, imagine a smile on your heart. See it beating joyfully and purposefully.
  • Get your liver to smile, your stomach, lungs, intestines, brain.
  • Now find a discomfort, pain or tightness. Make it smile. You
will notice this act seems to relax the area and the area around it.
  • Now breathe slowly into the area.

inner smile
This immediately allows energy to flow through and past the blockages
causing the discomfort, and, most importantly, causes an awareness of
tension and the thinking that created it.

The Evolution of Dance

Thursday, September 14th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

Just For Fun…. You may already have seen this, but Judson Laipply’s "Evolution of Dance" is one of the most hilarious things I’ve seen. I remember dancing with guys like that during the Age of Disco…and leaving out the back door on some occasions…  For a thirty-something white guy, he’s got more groove than any six normal people put together. This man clearly has no need of a gym. Enjoy!
