Support World Water Day!

Saturday, March 18th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

As an energy worker, I know how important it is to keep hydrated. Clean water - and plenty of it, is absolutely necessary for the health of the organism. Withold water, confusion, headaches/fuzziness and systemic faults occur that given time, magnify into serious dysfunction. Clean water is a very important thing for all human beings to have, yet some in the world have polluted water, or none at all.

Yvonne Divita writes in to Andy Wibbels’ blog http://andywibbels.com/post/1070:

WaterPartners International is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping fight unsafe and inadequate water supplies. World Water Day is quickly approaching and will be celebrated on March 22, 2006! The Global water crisis is the leading cause of death and disease in the world, taking the lives of more than 14,000 people each day, 11,000 of whom are children under age 5. Did you know that the average distance that women in Africa and Asia walk to collect water is 6 kilometers? In addition to the health problems, more than 200 million hours are spent every day by women and girls walking to collect water from distant, often polluted sources—time that could be better spent on more productive endeavors such as work and school.

Andy comments: "Few things drive me nuttier than this and water privatization. Is clean fresh water a right or a privilege? You’d think the answer would be easy."

I agree with Andy. I intuitively *feel* that clean water is a right. But I also know that the concept of "rights" is an exclusively Western one in many ways. I can ask the same question of clean air.

I believe it is my right to breathe clean air. The many smokers of cigars and cigarettes who actaully seem to delight in blowing their smoke in our faces and watching us choke, say that we have no such right. THEY on the contrary, have the "right" to smoke as and when they wish and if I don’t like it, I don’t have to walk down the city street they happen to be walking on. But they’re everywhere and as outdoors is the only place smokers in California can legally smoke, it is impossible to get away from them. Same debate, different substance. Each feels they are right. Who is?

Who can say.

Passionate Belief in Non-Existence (more Dyer)

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

More on Manifestion from Wayne Dyer’s "Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling", playing  this week on a PBS station near you. If this topic interests you, go buy the book or make a donation to your local PBS station and receive the book and dvd as a thank you gift.

Dyer quotes the Greek author Nikos Kanatzakis as saying:

By believing passionately in that which does not exist, we create it. That which is nonexistent has not been sufficiently desired.

What does this mean? That whether or not I fail in the future is predicated by my belief or lack of belief in my abilities. If I believe passionately that I am a complete failure I will attract more failure energy and experiences into my life. Likewise, if I choose to believe, even in absence of any proof, that I am outrageously successful, I will be successful as that is the energy field I am setting up by my beliefs.

So, if I want something tremendously but don’t have it yet, I need to have a passionate belief in what does not yet exist. Okay, that’s not that easy you say. And I say that is a belief that you have, that things are not easy. Stomp it with EFT, TAT, ZPoint, BSFF or your other favorite energy therapy.

I haven’t done this completely every single day, but I went from being COMPLETELY disbelieving that my life could be easy and that it had to be hard, hard, hard….to being open to the idea of ease…to thinking it was a pretty good thing to have…to thinking I could possibly accomplish ease in my life… to thinking I definitely could have my life be easy…to making it easy quite a lot of the time. And every problem I have had, I think about how I could make it easy, what the easy solution would be. I’m not there every single moment of the day, but life has opened up, become abundant and become much, much, much easier.

I passionately believe that life is easy, and the universe is friendly and helpful. I passionately believe in the good in people, and that people love me as I love them. I am inspired by every single person and place that surrounds me….whether I remember to make it easy or not, it is. It truly is.

Try it, you’ll see. Life can be easy for you too.

Wayne Dyer on “Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling”

Monday, March 6th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

I’ve been watching with great pleasure Wayne Dyer’s "Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling" all this week on the various PBS stations in the Bay Area. Heady stuff, and I’ll be blogging on this for awhile yet. Please go buy the book go immediately to the PBS station guide for your area and record this amazing program. You’re going to want to watch it again and again. Better still, make a donation to your local PBS station (they work by our donations alone, the current and previous federal administrations have left PBS flat, unfortunately) and receive the book and dvd as a thank you gift.

Dyer said a wonderful thing that like "There is no failure, there is only feedback" lets us off the guilt-hook for not doing what we know we can or would want to. He said and I paraphrase: "Forget motivation to get to a goal, motivation is hard. (anyone who’s read the previous post and agrees with Nancy will attest to this) Go for inspiration and it will take you where you need to be, every time. Get seized by a powerful, juicy idea that you absolutely must follow. Follow it and you will end up where you need to be."

Whatever it is you say that you want, cherish it and let the want to. Allow yourself to be irresistably attracted to the one thing that you cannot resist and give yourself completely to it. It may be that you are pulled irresistably to write, to paint, to dream, to make the dreams of others come true…it may be something else. When you do that, you are inspired, "in-spirit". Dyer says that when we do this we are the closest to Source that we can possibly be.

He quotes the Persian poet Jalalud’din Rumi in saying:

"The morning breeze has secrets to tell you Do not go back to sleep"

Do you find yourself waking in the middle of the night for no reason? Is it at relatively the same time every morning? No matter when I go to bed, I have what I call a "five hour wall" that I hit and will waken, sometimes with no agenda, sometimes with a full bladder, needing the bathroom. Dyer says when we waken like this, to put your feet on the floor and don’t go back to sleep but allow yourself to experience the morning breeze…or at least that quiet, fully-awakened state of mind that is closest to the Source. Get your biological needs taken care of and invite yourself to sit quietly and be open. Things will come to you in this time that you might never expect or have access to any other time of day.

When I waken like this I am fully awake, and usually talking to myself, itching to get on the computer and having completed another project, writing or plan in my sleep. I notice as Dyer says, that when I go back to sleep I have difficulty remembering these beautiful poems and fully-fleshed plans when I wake up later in the day. Good case for keeping a notebook or digital recorder next to your bed.

Dyer also quotes the great Indian sage Patanjali on the subject of inspiration:

When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts break their bonds Your mind transcends limitations. Your consciousness expands in every direction. And you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents come alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.

Go for what juices you, even though right now you can’t see how it will pay the bills or possibly work with the living situation you have or, or, or, or…

Address these thoughts, beliefs and blockages to living fully expressed and in flow with the universe with your favorite energy therapy. These thoughts and beliefs bind us and keep us from fully expressing as Source. As you lose this bondage, those dormant forces, faculties and talents Patanjali speaks of will pop out of the woodwork with an energy and swiftness and appropriateness that will astonish and delight you.

And you will discover yourself to be a greater person that you ever dreamed you could be, honest and for true.

Thinking About Fat Begets More Fat

Monday, March 6th, 2006 by Maryam Webster

Having a problem with the scales, or what they’re telling you? Kathy Fratti writes from the Philly ‘burbs that even her energy therapy friends say there’s no help for it but to exercise:

"They say that whatever you train your thoughts on grows bigger. And that’s certainly true of the number on my bathroom scale.

The fatter I get, the more I think about being fat, and the next thing I know I’m fatter than the day before. There’s no mystery about how this works.

I think, “Spring is coming and I’m going to have to take off this big Irish sweater,” and then I’m rifling through the pantry for the last box of Girl Scout cookies to distract myself from the stress.

It is the dead of winter, yet I am in full bloom. Broken zippers. Popped waistband buttons. I can’t remember the last time I tucked in my blouse. This is what I get for using my George Foreman grill — designed to drain fat from meat — to toast corned beef Reubens or cheesy quesadillas.

I needed to make a change.

So, I shared the increasingly bad news from the scale with my friend Nancy who teaches about balance and wellness through an energy therapy called Reiki. She’d have some wise counsel…

Read the rest of Kathy’s amusing journey here

For the record, I disagree with Nancy, Kathy’s energy therapy friend who practices Reiki, and goes on to say that energy modalities don’t work for weightloss. Ever try EFT? TAT? ZPoint? You can get more information here on how to do these for yourself.

I’m working on my own weightloss issues with energy modalities. While it’s slow and sometimes can be frustrating, getting to the root of the emotional problems that stand in the way of our losing weight, shucking a job or a relationship that doesn’t wok or anything else we have been "failing" at. For the record, to quote the old NLP presupposition that The Certified Energy Coach Program has adopted: "There is no failure, there is only feedback"

SkypEFT

Friday, March 3rd, 2006 by Maryam Webster

One of the most interesting things I’ve found in doing energy coaching is how uniquely well it works over the phone. Or over Skype, an internet VoIP protocol and free to use at www.skype.com. An interesting new article from the Daily India Times elucidates this point:

Excerpt: Due to the incredible high rate of success EFT has spread rapidly throughout the world. It is now even been used in some specialist areas of the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. EFT works on just about every emotional and physical issue you can name. Unlike other therapies with EFT you often see results in minutes. Emotional Freedom Technique stands alone as a cutting edge therapy. It can dramatically improve your health and the quality of your life.

We often overlook our emotional health and concentrate on the physical side. It was ascertained that the underlying cause of an illness could be negative emotion. The disruption to the body’s energy system can indeed create medical, physical and psychological ill health. Emotional freedom technique gets rid of negative emotions and restores your bodies’ natural energy system quickly and painlessly. EFT works well with any emotional disturbances such as phobias, panic attacks, depression, as well as with many physical and medical problems. Emotional freedom techniques works by clearing emotional blockages from your body’s bio energy system. Good emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical well-being and healing - no matter how dedicated you are to keeping fit or eating a proper diet.

EFT is easy to do, it involves no medication or equipment and it works on babies to adults. It often works where all else has failed and where conventional medicine is unable to help. It does not work by a placebo effect and will work on the hardest of sceptics.

Emotional Freedom Technique will give you relief from any old or new problems that you may experience. Most people often feel energised after a session. After using EFT you become relaxed, reinvigorated and you sleep better. Using EFT you can become truly stress, worry, illness & pain free!

One of the other amazing things about EFT is that sessions can be done over the telephone or Internet using things like Skype, MSN messenger, Yahoo messenger and ICQ. That means it is perfect for people with mobility difficulties or agoraphobia. It also means you do not have to travel to your therapist or pay parking costs.
