Moving On, Content Teaser & Energy Coaching
Monday, November 22nd, 2004 by Maryam WebsterMy, but there is far more to getting this house ready for sale than we first thought… What an education all this work is and so very good for the body and soul! I highly recommend moving every few years as a weightloss tool. (grin) All this is good too, for finding lost things, gaining blessings through giving things away to those who need them more than I do, and meeting great new people that are helping us get our house in order. But not good in terms of leaving time to write…
To make up for the dearth of posts this month I thought I’d share one I made over at "Innovatoblitz", CoachVille’s Innovations Team blog. Lots of nice clickable links. Mmm, mmm, good… Enjoy!

But for now, here’s that post on Energy Coaching. If you’ve ever wondered, or are thinking about joining the Certified Energy Coach Program, here’s the skinny:
—————————-
Energy Patterning, what some call Energy Psychology or Energy Medicine, is coming to be better known across the world through the efforts of both the therapy creators, life coaches and individual energy researchers. These methods work on the same meridian based principles as accupuncture and accupressure. Tapping, holding or warming of the pressure points while holding the prevaling issue in the mind comprises the main practice of such therapies, though not always. As adjuncts to either conventional or complementary medicine and psychotherapy, these tools re-pattern the energy holding complex sets of negative emotion and behavior in place. They are quickly and easily applied by the client both in session and outside of it on their own time, to dissolve personal blockages even before they form.
Therapists and others treading the path that has come to be known as Life Coaching, began using these helping tools on themselves and their clients in the 1990’s. The first blockbuster "power therapy" was TFT or Thought Field Therapy, developed by southern California psychiatrist Roger Callahan. Stanford engineer Gary Craig went on to further develop and publicise the simplification of TFT that today is known as EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT was made so easy to learn with the manual made freely available by Craig, that many personal coaches began incorporating the technique with their clients. Other techniques of note for ease of client application include Tapas Accupressure Technique (TAT) and Be Set Free Fast (BSFF).
Unlike conventional psychotherapy, the results of energy patterning are swift and once programmed in by the client, need never be repeated to enjoy lasting success. The Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychologies which oversees energy patterning technique practitioners, notes in one study impressive statistics of these techniques over cognitive behavioral therapy and medications in alleviating anxiety disorder. Anxiety is at the root of most client’s unsuccessful behavior, certainly many conditions which bring clients into a coach’s practice. From the coach point of view, EFT as other energy therapies can be used to:
· Root out stubborn blockage behaviors. For example, a client might choose to use EFT to remove their extreme reluctance to making sales calls.
· Program in success behaviors. The client could program in enjoying positive connections with new people through making such calls.
· Positively create compelling futures. The client can use these techniques to create an evolutionary environment that irresistably draws them to looking forward so much to making calls that they exponentially increase their network and sales figures on a consistently upward scale.
In the last few years, several coaches have been working with and refining these methods for use in a purely coaching context. I developed a comprehensive program and wrote a 180 page manual to teach energy patterning techniques to those in the helping professions, and The Certified Energy Coach Program was born. Teaching the gamut from bodyworkers, to hypnotherapists, psychotherapists, teachers and life coaches, the CEC Program trains helping professionals how to incorporate energy therapies like EFT, TAT, BSFF and Kinesiology techniques with their clients in a decidedly "coach approach". At roughly the same time, NLP Coach Mary Jones from The Association for Meridian Therapies, (the UK energy patterning association) wrote a beautifully insightful and useful book The EFT Coach which sparked the interest of an increasing amount of life and business coaches as well as energy therapists. Other coaches have their own take and trainings such as Kathy Pike’s Mind-Body Coach. Whatever training a Coach the client benefits tremendously each and every time.
If you coach clients with difficult blockages, you owe it to yourself and them to check this material out. Much of energy patterning is freely available on the web at the sites linked in this article. A basic FAQ on the energy therapies exists here. Additionally, here is a compendium of FAQ’s and pages relating to particular problems and techniques.
