UPDATE: DANAYA BROWN’S LAST DAY
Friday, August 29th, 2003 by Maryam WebsterMy friend Danaya Brown lost her fight with leukemia this afternoon at 12:20pm Pacific time. Her husband Mark said if it would help even one person to know of her story that I should continue putting it out there. There have been so many amazing lessons here, I certainly have learned a great deal and have met many fine people who have volunteered to help, so here goes, once again. Mark called me at 6:30 this morning saying Danaya’s pulse was 180 and had been holding for the last few hours. I don’t know how a person can live through several hours of a pulse that high. He said the docs predict she will die today. With one of her last sentances during the mid-morning, she said that she wanted her friend and the monks from Wat Buddanusorn to be present at her side, then lapsed into semi-consciousness. My heart felt very, very heavy as we hung up the phone. I continued to send Reiki, love and prayer to them both. The funeral is already being planned at the Wat. Mark is mentally packing his bags for Thailand where he will take Danaya’s ashes and dedicate himself as a Buddhist monk for some period of time as he mourns.
